Wild Precious Life by The-Longfall-of-1979 Wild Precious Life by The-Longfall-of-1979
"Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?"

“You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
for a hundred miles through the desert, repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.
Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
Meanwhile the world goes on.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain
are moving across the landscapes,
over the prairies and the deep trees,
the mountains and the rivers.
Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air,
are heading home again.
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting –
over and over announcing your place
in the family of things.”

― Mary Oliver

One of my personal [and very precious] favorite stories, "Where the Wild Things Are" by Maurice Sendak, meets one of the most loveliest poets I've ever discovered, Mary Oliver. :) I actually have made 2 versions of this artwork [I was so attached, I couldn't possibly choose one] and I had just such a good time with this one. The original drawing began as just a conceptual sketch in my personal journal, but I loved the simplicity of it and decided to make it an official artwork. A nice mix of poetry and storytelling.

You can find it available for print today on Society6 and the official Store! As a part of March's new releases. :)

I hope you enjoy it.

I needed this today. Thank you.

Unfortunately Where The Wild Things Are was not present in my childhood (I came across it when I was already an adult and studying illustration) so I always got the feeling of looking at it from behind the glass and not quite belonging but it's still a beautiful story for me.

Where The Wild Things Are is my favorite movie of all time. I do like the scenes that has to do with Max & Carol, they're like...father & son figures to each other, both Max Records & James Gandolfini did a very good job as their characters. I do hope for a sequel to happen for the movie, as a special dedication to Maurice Sendak & James Gandolfini. :)
